Anderson County personnel met this morning to discuss key issues and next steps for our county concerning the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. The decision was made to suspend normal school operations at this time for all Anderson County school districts. Suspending operations through April 3rd will allow us to determine, in coordination with local health officials, whether the virus is continuing to spread or whether it has been contained. If there is a need to continue the suspension at that time, it would likely be for at least 2 more weeks beyond April 3rd.
The district will use next week to work out details concerning providing instruction and meals to students when staff returns on Monday, March 23rd.
FISD asks for patience and understanding as we gather essential information to make the most informed decisions possible for the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to update you with critical information as soon as it becomes available.
