Superintendent’s Blog v5

February 10, 2017

It’s time for another round of weekend fun!!! It’s Senior Night for our Indians on the basketball court as they take on Westwood High School tonight, with JV at 5:00 and Varsity starting at 6:30.  I’m proud of our seniors for being such role models for our younger students and for an inspiring season; always showing us the true meaning of grit and hustle on the court.  I also want to say that I’m extra proud of their parents for sending us such wonderful children and for always being there as a source of strength and support for the team and for our community.

Also on the schedule of Friday night events is the baseball scrimmage against West Rusk, beginning at 5:00 PM.  I know that Coach Branch and his players have some great plays, lots of wins, and tons of excitement in store for us this spring on the baseball diamond.

Don’t forget to come out to the FFA dinner and Labor & Merchandise Auction this Saturday night in the elementary cafeteria, beginning at 6:00 PM.  Mr. Holcombe,  Mr. Swain, and our FFA students have lined up some really cool items  for the FFA auction.  I know that our students are looking forward to showcasing their projects and seeing those big bids come in that will help with their expenses as they compete in contests and livestock shows over the coming year.

I want to thank everyone who helped make this year’s “Mini Mall” at Frankston Elementary such a success.  The gym has been packed with our children, teachers, and parents all day!  We had fingernail painting, face painting, snow cones, and all kinds of fun going on as our students also learned some fundamental principles of economics and finance.  Our teachers are awesome for creating such a meaningful,  hands-on set of learning experiences for our students.  These teachers really “get” what it takes to engage our students in lessons that will last a lifetime!

One of our Frankston Band’s finest moments of the year came last Saturday, as  the Frankston Middle School Band was awarded thirty-six 1st Division medals, and the high school earning another twenty!  That’s the highest number of 1st Division medals in our school district history!  On top of that, seven of our high school students advanced to the Texas State UIL Solo/Ensemble competition  that will be held in May.  Way to go, Frankston Indian Band!

When you see these students, please be sure to tell them how much we appreciate their commitment to excellence!

And just in time for the blog… I got word from a very excited and proud mom that Frankston’s very own, Emily Cook, has been officially awarded “Concert Band - All State Musician for the French Horn!  Congratulations, Emily!  I also want to congratulate her parents, Trent and Nicci Cook on this wonderful honor.

Y’all come out and be a part of all the fun with our Frankston family of schools!
